WHAT DOES MY FIRST MEDICATION MANAGEMENT SESSION LOOK LIKE?

Lisa will spend two full hours with you, taking information such as sleep patterns, medical history, nutrition history, current life stressors, current medications, side affects, previous attempts at medications, and many other aspects of your emotional/mental health.  She will want to treat you in a way that makes you comfortable. She uses an integrative model; integrating traditional medicine with more natural and alternative medicine that is backed by research.

WHAT IF I ALREADY AM ON AN ANTIDEPRESSANT BUT I WANT TO DO SOMETHING MORE, DIFFERENT OR ADDED ON?

Lisa will work with your current prescribing MD, NP or PA to help you add supplements that may help your antidepressant be more effective, or give you support through transitioning your medication regimen.

WHAT DOES MY FIRST COUNSELING SESSION LOOK LIKE?

You will spend an hour with your therapist, identifying problem areas and figuring out goals that you will want to reach.  Your counselor will want to learn as much about you and what you are looking for so she can be as effective and efficient as possible.  She will ask you questions about your overall health, diet, emotional history and presenting problems.

CAN I BILL MY INSURANCE FOR ANY OF THE SERVICES?

Payment is required at the time of service.  If you wish to have your insurance reimburse you, your provider will give you a 1500 form to mail to your insurance carrier.  If you are interested in finding out what your benefits are, call you insurance and ask for your out of network Mental Health benefits are.  Please remember that many medical plans are separated out from mental health plans, so call to make sure of your deductible and overall plan for out of network providers.

WHAT IS HYNOTHERAPY and HOW DO I SCHEDULE?

To understand hypnotherapy, hypnosis must be defined:

Hypnosis is a deepened state of relaxation allowing the body and mind to focus and concentrate. Hypnosis is completely safe. A person in a hypnotic state has complete control over his/her experience. People who have experienced hypnosis describe it to be a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to guide a client in achieving specific goals and outcomes. Through the deepened state of relaxation clients are able to increase their awareness, sourcing new solutions and possibilities for achieving their goals and changing their behaviors specific to their life situations. Q: What is hypnosis/hypnotherapy?

A: Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness established through the use of relaxation, imagery, concentration, expectation and suggestion. Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to assist client’s with achieving goals/objectives and outcomes.

Q: Can anyone undergo hypnosis?

A: Yes, most anyone can undergo hypnosis if they are willing to participate in the process. In fact, people enter into an altered state of consciousness several times per day without realizing it. Examples of this include the waking up state first thing in the morning, the falling asleep state, reading a book, getting engrossed in television and daydreaming.

Q: What is hypnosis/hypnotherapy used for?

Q: I have seen people undergo hypnosis on television and do silly things. Do people loose control over their own minds and behaviors while under hypnosis?

A: No. Although hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, people still have full control to make choices and participate in the process or stop the process.

Q: Is hypnosis safe?

A: There are no documented cases of harm from the use of hypnosis. Furthermore, there are no documented cases of a person being unable to emerge from a hypnotic state.

Q: I know someone who has been under hypnosis and he/she claimed they went to sleep. How does hypnosis work if it only puts you to sleep?

A: Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness between being awake and being asleep. In this state, the subconscious mind can be accessed to facilitate the desired outcome(s). It is not uncommon to achieve very deep levels of hypnosis whereby the client does not recall the experience and therefore thinks he/she has fallen asleep. Nonetheless, the subconscious mind has received all of the information and benefited from the hypnotic experience during the hypnotherapy session.

Q: How long is a hypnotherapy session?

A: The length of each session depends upon the client and the objectives. Typically a session can range from 45 minutes to 90 minutes. This does not include the intake time prior to the hypnosis session beginning.
